It is actually here. Some might be saying, “It is About Time.” Monday December 7th, 2009 Google rolled out real-time search results. Although it is live some of us may not see it yet depending on your location.
Here is a pretty cool video that Google put together on the new Real Time Search:
To get the full story from Google read their blog post “Relevance meets the real-time web“
At the blog they stated:
“Our real-time search enables you to discover breaking news the moment it’s happening, even if it’s not the popular news of the day, and even if you didn’t know about it beforehand….Click on “Latest results” or select “Latest” from the search options menu to view a full page of live tweets, blogs, news and other web content scrolling right on Google. You can also filter your results to see only “Updates” from micro-blogs like Twitter, FriendFeed, Jaiku and others. Latest results and the new search options are also designed for iPhone and Android devices when you need them on the go, be it a quick glance at changing information like ski conditions or opening night chatter about a new movie — right when you’re in line to buy tickets.”
Real-time search can benefit you when looking for breaking news and trending topics on the web. The cool thing is that it can also be profitable. How you might ask? Your tweets, retweets, Facebook page content, Friendfeed, and much more could be at the top of any Google search page depending on relevancy of your content that is being searched. I would have to say that is pretty cool. More the reason for the need to be using social media.
Here is what Mashable’s Adam Ostrow had to say about Google’s Real-Time Search:
“Now, with one sweeping stroke, Google has grabbed the lead in the real-time search space, and it appears that Facebook and Twitter have both conceded that they aren’t going to outbuild Google when it comes to search.”

They are dominating in their own territory — Google in real time search, Twitter or Facebook in social networking. To me, all these are indispensable in our daily activities with Internet. Innovations are the power to change our Internet experience.

Do you think Google really wants to push real time search,, or the just jumping on something that they don’t want others to have?

I noticed my self for several keywords that real time search appeared in Google and then gone away.
I think this is still in beta and the final version will be expected in a few weeks. But my question will be how important will be this for Google from user point of view, will list on top or in bottom ? (since your example has in top the real time search and i discovered that some are in bottom).

With something like 0.5 second to have result, you can consider that real time search is already here.

Actually, I noticed this feature and used it without even realizing it. Google is trying to keep a hold on the search market. They must innovate otherwise someone will step up and do it.

i think real-time search is the new generation of search. The almost simultaneous release of google buzz to coincide with this feature is not by chance, it won”t be long before they put more emphasis on their own social networking site

Well, here in France, we sometimes have a new windows in search results showing real time results.. but in fact, it’s results that are 2 or 3 hours old.. and i think it’s still in test, cause it’s only a few times a week…

That’s cool!
Is this actually live on on Google? I haven’t seen it.
Is there something we have to turn on in order to see the real time results?
